Invisalign Basking Ridge

Aesthetic Dental Group offers Invisalign near Basking Ridge, NJ. But why choose Aesthetic as your provider? Located in nearby Martinsville, Aesthetic offers the best in dentistry, orthodontics, and cosmetic dentistry for the entire family. With an office that resembles a garden hideaway, you will feel comfortable and relaxed in the hands of Dr. John Cross and Dr. Monika Chan.

Combining the Best of Dentistry and Orthodontics

Dentistry and orthodontics are related fields but are very different from one another. All orthodontists must complete the same degree requirements as a dentist. Following that they continue on to study orthodontics for an additional 2 to 3 years. Additional studies in fields such as cosmetic and restorative dentistry also round out the training for dental specialists such as Dr. Cross and Dr. Chan.

Working together, they have combined their extensive study to create a dental and orthodontic practice for patients of all ages. Children should begin seeing a dentist when their first primary (baby) tooth appears. Keeping up with regular appointments throughout their childhood can prepare them for a healthy life. Aesthetic Dental Group makes whole-family care simple in a warm and inviting environment.

Both dentistry and orthodontics are better with technology. At Aesthetic Dental Group, they use the latest technology and equipment to ensure that all patients receive the very best care available. Invisalign uses a lot of new technology and continues to improve over time.

Since its introduction in 1999, Align Technology continues to improve Invisalign treatment. This includes the development of treatment for teens and children as young as seven years old. Traditional metal braces are no longer the only game in town when it comes to achieving a perfect smile.

What to Expect with Invisalign Treatment

When you decide to begin Invisalign treatment, you will be standing at the edge of a life-changing treatment. Not only does a perfect smile assist with your outward appearance, but it can also boost your self-esteem and confidence. There are also health benefits with properly aligned teeth. Your ability to chew will improve, which aids in better digestion. So if you’re ready to fine-tune your body, Invisalign might be the tool you need.

Your journey begins with an examination. The doctor will review your medical and dental history. They will look at x-rays and digital images of your smile, and conduct an oral examination. Once that part is complete, they will custom-design a treatment plan just for you. Every smile is different, so each treatment plan is different.

After the examination, you will sit down with the doctor who will outline your treatment options. This will include the expected duration of your treatment, cost, insurance, payment options, and more. You will also have an opportunity to ask any questions during this meeting. All that is left is to make your appointment!

Orthodontist in Basking Ridge — What Aesthetic Offers

When it comes to orthodontic care, patients want a doctor that offers more than one type of treatment. Although braces are still a standard for straightening teeth, there are other alternatives now. Among the orthodontic treatments offered by Aesthetic Dental Group:

  • Traditional metal braces and clear braces
  • Invisalign and Invisalign Teen

While both braces and Invisalign straighten teeth to create perfect smiles, they work in different manners. Traditional braces use brackets and wires to provide tension to move teeth. In addition to the standard metal brackets, Clear Braces are also available. Although the clear brackets work in the same manner, they allow the natural color of your teeth to show which blends in, making them less obvious.

Invisalign is a series of almost invisible tray aligners that gently shift teeth into new positions. While this treatment is still considered relatively new, it has more than a 20-year track record of positive results.

Both treatment methods are effective in correcting minor to complex alignment issues including:

  • Gap teeth
  • Overbite and underbite
  • Protruding teeth
  • Crowded teeth
  • Crooked teeth

Following an initial consultation, our doctor will discuss the recommended treatment program to transform your smile. If you have a preference, make sure to mention that. You will also have an opportunity to ask questions about the treatment, cost, and duration. Our staff will happily discuss all your options before we begin any treatment program.

Is Invisalign Better Than Braces?

In many respects, yes, Invisalign is a preferred treatment for patients. Although traditional braces still maintain a place in orthodontics, Invisalign is becoming the new standard. With the ability to treat minor and complex malocclusions, Invisalign is a versatile alternative to braces. The type of treatment is determined by several factors:

  • Cost — traditional braces are slightly less costly than Invisalign but comparable
  • Duration of treatment
  • Age of patient
  • Degree of malocclusion

Although patients may include other factors, those are the basics. In examining costs, Invisalign is only slightly more expensive, making the difference negligible. Orthodontists can be more aggressive with wires and brackets, so treatment duration may be slightly shorter than with Invisalign.

The degree of malocclusion can only be determined after a complete examination. Invisalign treatment has grown significantly since its introduction. There are very few alignment issues that this unique, almost invisible tray alignment system cannot correct.

If you are ready to find out if Invisalign is the treatment for you, contact Aesthetic Dental Group for an appointment.

How Much Does an Orthodontist Visit Cost?

Many people avoid dentists and orthodontists because the first question is always, “How much does an orthodontist visit cost?” The economy is hurting due to COVID-19 and numerous other factors. That limits household budgets and dental care seems to be one of the first things on the chopping block.

Let us explain how orthodontic visits can fit within your budget.

How Much Does an Orthodontist Visit Cost?

When discussing the cost of an orthodontic visit, we can’t answer the question with a specific numeric amount. In many cases, orthodontists offer a free or reduced-price “initial consult.”

This isn’t a bait-and-switch deal. An orthodontist can’t prescribe any type of treatment without an examination because every smile is different. In order to discuss the cost of an orthodontist visit, you have to see the doctor first.

Aesthetic Dental Group offers a complimentary initial consult for new patients. This first visit allows Dr. John Cross and Dr. Monika Chan to meet new patients. The cost of a new patient assessment would normally range in the area of $200 to $350 with X-rays and digital imaging. Offering this as a free service has many advantages.

The doctors can assess the overall condition of a patient’s oral health. After an examination, they can determine whether or not a patient will require orthodontic care. Once an assessment is made, our doctors will discuss their recommendations for continuing treatment. This will include orthodontic appliances if needed, such as braces or Invisalign, and all associated costs.

Another factor in why it is difficult to nail down a precise cost is because orthodontic plans are not “single-visit” events. Orthodontic costs are normally averaged out over the duration of treatment, which allows the cost to fit within almost any budget.

Braces or Invisalign Can Fit into Your Budget

There are many ways to fit orthodontics into your budget. Orthodontic treatment is unique for each patient. Although some may require only minimal adjustment, others may require 12 to 18 months with braces or other appliances. The cost is based on the specific duration of treatment, the type of appliances, and other factors.

There are several ways to defray the cost of orthodontic treatment. Insurance sometimes covers a portion of the cost, but this also varies with each insurance plan. The staff at Aesthetic Dental Group can help to assess what your insurance will offset.

If your employer offers a Health Savings Account or other medical cost savings plan, these can also be a way to lower the final cost. Because your teeth affect your overall health, orthodontics is an important part of remaining healthy.

After all cost assessments are complete, the remaining balance can be paid in a number of ways. Paying as a lump sum may offer additional discounts also. Arrangement for payment plans is available in many instances by using a short-term loan program such as Care Credit. This brings orthodontic treatment into the realm of affordability for all budgets.

Is Invisalign Cheaper than Braces?

Is Invisalign cheaper than braces? Although at one time, Invisalign was much more expensive than traditional braces, technological advances have lessened that gap. While Invisalign remains slightly higher in cost, weighing the advantages might make that minor difference a worthwhile investment for many patients. Let us explain.

Differences in Treatment — Invisalign vs. Braces

Traditional metal braces are the tried-and-true method for straightening teeth that have been around for centuries. In fact, mummies with braces dating as early as 400-300 BC have been discovered! When Invisalign began treating patients in 1999, they were prescribed only in cases requiring minimal correction. Since then, technological advancements have made Invisalign a viable replacement for braces even in more complex cases.

While traditional braces aren’t as aesthetically pleasing as Invisalign, they are an effective treatment for correcting malocclusions. Whether you have a minor alignment problem or a complex case of overcrowding, traditional braces have been a stalwart performer. Adjusting to having the brackets and wires in your mouth can be frustrating at first, but most patients adjust quickly.

Invisalign has become a favorite treatment method because it is nearly invisible. In many instances, most people won’t even realize that you are wearing braces at all. With the development of SmartTrack material, Invisalign has become both more affordable and more effective in treating a wider variety of malocclusions. Using other appliances to nudge teeth into new positions quicker, Invisalign can be almost as aggressive as traditional braces. This shortens treatment time, which of course, lowers the overall cost.

Is Invisalign Cheaper than Braces?

So, is Invisalign cheaper than braces? Not yet, but the cost differential is not as great as it was. Prices can vary widely from patient to patient.

Because each mouth is different, each treatment plan is different. An average “ballpark” figure for traditional braces is $3,000 to $7,000. While that is a very broad range, it can cost more, or in very minor cases be a little less expensive.

For Invisalign, the pricing can range from $3,500 for minor cases up to and beyond $8,000 for more complex malocclusions. Believe it or not, even your physical location has an impact on the cost. In urban areas, the cost may be much higher than treatment from an orthodontist in a rural area.

Although both treatments can be a budgetary hit to your family, there are ways to lower the impact. Aesthetic Dental Group works with patients to make sure that treatment plans fit into your budget without sacrificing your bread and egg money. Using dental insurance plans, Health Saving Accounts (HSA), Care Credit, and monthly payment plans, braces, or Invisalign can be affordable.

Braces vs. Invisalign — Which Is Better for Me?

The age-old question rears its head once again. Invisalign vs. braces — Which is better for me? If only there were a simple answer or one-size-fits-all solution, but there isn’t. Without a complete oral examination, including x-rays, we can’t advise you on which is best for you. There are also a lot of other considerations that go into this decision.

Braces vs. Invisalign — Pros and Cons

Let’s begin with a look at the pros and cons of both braces and Invisalign. Both are effective in straightening smiles. The cost of Invisalign is slightly higher, but not a deal-breaker level difference for most patients.

Invisalign Pros:

  • Almost invisible
  • No dietary restrictions (trays are removable for meals)
  • Patient-centered treatment (fewer office visits)
  • Oral hygiene is easy

Invisalign Cons:

  • Sometimes inconvenient to remove for meals and to drink (restaurants, etc.)
  • Daily cleaning routine (similar to dentures)
  • Patient-centered treatment (patient needs to have personal discipline)
  • Not always effective for complex orthodontic problems

Braces Pros:

  • Suitable for all orthodontic corrective measures from simple to complex
  • Braces may shorten treatment duration

Braces Cons:

  • Dietary restrictions — no chewy, sticky, hard, and crunchy foods
  • Difficult to floss around archwires
  • Brackets and wires may cause contact sores in the mouth
  • Food gets trapped between wires
  • Adjustments need to be made by the orthodontist (more office visits)

The single most significant deciding factor will probably be the severity of your orthodontic problem. If your tooth alignment is only slightly out of line, Invisalign will work great. If you have more complex issues, the doctor may recommend traditional braces.

Which Is Better for You?

The only way to know for sure is to have an examination. Dr. Chan or Dr. Cross will evaluate your teeth and make recommendations about which treatment plan would be the best for you. The good news is that the initial consultation is free.

Once your initial examination is complete, we will discuss available treatment options with you. The discussion will include the type of treatment recommended, how long the treatment will take, and what you can expect. We will explain all costs, and our staff will evaluate your insurance to see what costs may be offset.

The one thing you can be sure about is that we will treat you great at Aesthetic Dental Group. Our entire staff is dedicated to making your smile perfect. Whether you decide on braces or Invisalign, we are confident that you will be pleased with the results.

Why Choose Invisalign?

If you are wondering why to choose Invisalign, you may not know much about Invisalign. Since its approval by the Food and Drug Association (FDA) in 1998, Invisalign has become a popular replacement for traditional braces. Adults like them because they are almost invisible. Orthodontists like them because they are efficient at straightening many tooth alignment problems. But there are pros and cons also, so let’s explore Invisalign more in-depth.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a clear tray alignment system that works to straighten your smile gradually. Unlike traditional braces, the trays are removable so there are fewer restrictions during the treatment period.

The process begins by using 3D imaging to map your teeth. A  series of tray sets are made in a graduating sequence. By switching to a new tray set every two weeks, your teeth gradually shift to correct alignment problems.

Depending on the severity of your initial alignment issues, Invisalign treatment can take as little as six months. The average treatment period is 12 to 18 months. You will wear the trays 20 to 22 hours per day for the treatment to be effective.

Invisalign is often a perfect treatment for adults because there is a very low impact on their day-to-day routine. Trays are almost invisible, so most people won’t even realize you have braces while wearing them.

Why Choose Invisalign over Traditional Braces?

While there are many personal reasons that you may choose Invisalign over traditional braces, we will only cover the most common reasons here.

The advantages of Invisalign:

  • Tray aligners are more comfortable than braces
  • There are no dietary restrictions (you remove trays to eat and drink)
  • Oral hygiene is easier (you brush and floss normally)
  • Fewer visits to the orthodontist
  • Trays are almost invisible

As with all good things, there are also detractors we must include in any discussion. Trays are taken out for eating and drinking. Some people find this practice cumbersome, especially when eating in public spaces. Before reinserting trays, you need to brush and floss also.

You may experience slight discomfort when switching to a new set of trays. The discomfort is minor and normally subsides within a reasonable amount of time.

For the treatment to be effective, you must dedicate yourself to wearing your trays for 20 to 22 hours per day.

Oral hygiene is very important during Invisalign treatment. Inserting the trays without brushing and flossing following a meal can increase tooth decay. If you are unable to brush and floss properly following a meal, you should leave your trays out until you can.
